Outdoor Refresh: Exterior Lights Under $150

Hi Friends! My mom turned 60 this past weekend and we last minute decided to make the 4 hour trip into the mountains to surprise her! We are so happy we spontaneously did it. These days about as spontaneous as we get is heading to Costco at 4 pm on a Saturday and praying we make it out alive. So this was pretty rare for us, but so fun! We got back late last night, and it was back to the races this morning.

This week, we are picking out and finalizing the color for the exterior of our home! The painters start next Monday, and we could not be more excited. Last summer, my husband and I single handedly redid our entire front yard. It was two months of hard labor, but so worth it. Even doing it ourselves it was costly, so we decided we would hold off on any other expenses on the exterior of our home till this Spring. So now the time has come!

I mentioned before, our house is pretty cookie cutter, so anything we can do to give it some life and updates we are game for! Our HOA can be strict, but they have added some great gray colors lately that I am excited to sample. You can also get colors passed if you submit them, so I most likely will go that route. We are definitely going to go with a medium gray for the house, crisp white for the trim, and the front door color is still up for debate! I am actually leaning towards black now? What do you guys think? I wrote a whole post about front door colors (here), and at the time was thinking yellow…but now black is calling me for some reason?! I love the classic combination of gray, white, and black what can I say!

Since we are painting the exterior of our home, we are also going to update the lighting now! I have been waiting years to do this so I am thrilled! Inside, we are always so quick to change out light fixtures, but forgot about those on the exterior of our home. New light fixtures can have just as much of an impact outside as they do inside, and can really add to the style of your home. In our case, we need 5 new lights for our exterior. Three by our garage doors, one by our front door, and one above our back slider. This adds up fast! I have been trying to keep it budget friendly, so wanted to share these beauties with you all too!

My eye is going towards rustic lantern and barn style lights for the most part. I am absolutely loving #2 and #5 but possible in a different finish to go with our gray paint color. #11 is pretty charming as well. But you really can’t go wrong with any of these, right?! It took some hunting, but I was really pleased at what I found for under $150! I can’t wait to share with you what we come up with for our exterior. And of course, I will share all the updates here.

Are you painting the exterior of your home this Summer? Or updating your exterior lighting? I would love to hear what changes you are making to your exterior? I am always looking for ideas to update our home and make it a little less “cookie cutter”! As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
