We spent a lot of time outside this weekend, and it dawned on me that I have yet to share our new exterior paint color! I shared the colors we narrowed it down to (here), but now it’s time to take a peak at the final result!
We ultimately decided on SW Functional Gray for the body of the house, SW Alabaster for the trim, and SW Iron Ore for the front door. We had a surprisingly easy time choosing these colors (it probably had something to do with the fact that I had been dreaming about painting our house for the past 5 years ;)). Our house painters came highly recommended, and I can completely see why! They were seriously amazing! They busted out our house in four days and took such attention to detail. It could not have gone smoother which was an extra bonus!
The new color pulls out the gray in the stone rather the brown like previously. The Alabaster trim looks so clean against the gray and gives it a more modern fresh feel. And to finish off the look the dark charcoal door ties it all in. We are totally loving this new color combination!
We pretty much maxed out are budget allotment for outdoor upgrades this Summer with painting the exterior! Eventually we will update this little front porch area too. Next Summer, I plan to update this space with either a swing or rocking chairs and add a railing to really define this area as our “front porch”. But for now I am loving this simple laid back look.
A few weeks ago, I gave this bench that we have had for years a quick paint job to match the front door (SW Iron Ore). I love that it matches the house colors and blends in with the stone. I was casually browsing Pottery Barn when I stumbled on these lemon and olive pillows and knew it would be a match made in heaven!! How beautiful are these pillows?! Even better I snagged them on some kind of promotion and got them for $12/each. They are back to full price now (such a bummer), so I am so happy I impulsively grabbed them when I did! They give this area the perfect pop of yellow and green and make it much more inviting.
I added this jute rug to give it a cozy vibe and define the space. I can’t get over what a difference adding this outdoor rug made to the space! We have spent many Summer nights on our front porch eating popsicles on the bench (pillows removed), watching the kiddos bike, and visiting with our neighbors.
This dairy container is one of my all time favorite finds, and I just love it here for Summer! I dug around in our basement and found this pot and galvanized bucket to add different heights to the space. All these ferns are from my grocery store for $9! They need complete shade so I am doing my best to keep them out of the sun for the most part…..easier said than done! I keep these magnolia wreaths up all Spring and Summer, they hold up so well under this covered porch that I can even use them indoors in the winter months! And that’s it, super simple and clean for Summer.
And a peak of the new paint job from the back! Do not mind the kids toys strewn all about ;).
And here’s the BEFORE on day 1 of painting: faded paint, ladders, garbage cans, paint samples, and all ;).The new gray paint color instantly updates our home, and now it feels like a reflection of what is on the inside. Have you painted your house recently? Are you loving it as much as we are? As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
P.S. I have to share this quick story with all you mamas! The boys were playing quietly when I ran out to grab these pictures. Well…the second I walk out I hear “click” and giggling. Yup those two little men below had locked me out! I could see them in there because it is a glass door…I am not going to lie I was threatening taking every toy, game, camp, even school away from them if they didn’t open the door immediately!! Guys…an hour later I finally got in! They thought it was the funniest hour of their life, and I didn’t know if I should cry or laugh…Just another day in motherhood ;). What do you think do those two look like trouble or what?!
